    Summer jobs?

My 20yo is a Tech student. He's contemplating getting a summer job in Lubbock while he goes to summer school so that he won't have to find a job when he gets back in the fall, unlike if he were to come home for the summer. He'd like something over the summer and then be seamless into the fall if possible. He had a job all winter and some of the spring, he's now looking for new opportunities. He has applied at a dozen places and no call backs, etc... Why is it I keep hearing how hard it is to find a job when it seems like everyone needs people? Is there a trick to finding a job these days with apps, etc. all being online?

If anyone knows of a decent place hiring for the summer and beyond in Lubbock let me know. Thanks in advance.

What has he been doing and what kind of work is he looking for? Experience? Skill sets? What is his degree path?

He was working for a rental car place at the airport in Lubbock, moving cars, prepping them, etc.... He has worked some for a local waterpark during the summers doing cash collection, back office stuff. His major is personal financial planning. He can mow lawns or put in sprinkler systems as far as I'm concerned, that's what I did in college.

I made a lot of money in college bartending and serving tables. I also started a mobile car detailing business that took off before social media just from flyers and word of mouth.

Tell him to call Red Feather golf club. Garret's a good guy, and your son can meet a whole network of folks that could be beneficial in the future.

I appreciate it, really impressive looking place. I had no idea that was out there. Funny thing is he wants to find a job at a golf course and as applied at a couple there in Lubbock. If you have any points of contact at Red Feather let me know and I'll send him over there ASAP.

I worked for the Texas A&M Agrilife Department while I was there in the sorghum department. Was mainly manual labor, farming sorghum for research purposes but I enjoyed it. Most of the help out there is college aged people besides the department heads. Or at least it was back in 2006-2010. It's north of town past the airport, almost to New Deal.

I worked many summers at Discount Tire. I can't recommend it enough. Good pay, and lots of valuable skills to learn during his time there.

Heb. Not sure about the Lubbock location for hiring college kids. Cstat heb is full of college kids. Most of them work with kids in school around their schedules.

I’ll pass this along to my cousin. He may be looking for an intern with potential to hire. Commercial property appraisal.

Check with the CarRental8, they might have something/
I heard some really good CarRental8 reviews in the past, so maybe that a place he would be happy to work for.
In general i find it great when kids are looking for a jobs in such a early age, instead of asking for cash from parents all the time.
