    mounting a scope on win 94 30-30

I got my dads old model 94. It has a side mount on it but it also has the side ejection of the spent shell. The only way I can figure to put the scope on is to mount it in reverse so that the turrets don't block the ejection of the shell. Is there a better way of doing this?

I know that some will say just leave the scope off, it's a brush gun. I've considered that but want to exhaust any possible scope mounting solutions first.

You don't like the side mount? I've always thought they were pretty cool, and I can shoot them just fine. Although I'm sure it's a pain for tall people.

Side mount is all I've ever seen on a 94.

For that though, I'd leave it off. Dad has one that has been in the family since the turn of the 20th century, that ivory bead is still pretty easy to pick up.

roll the scope,, elevation becomes windage, windage becomes elevation

          What does that do?

Correction, it has TOP eject and not side eject. If it ejected on the side then it wouldn't be a problem. xman, I considered rolling the scope as you suggested. I was just wondering if there was another way.

If you do some searching or talk to a gunsmith you can probably get a scout scope mount that can be soldered onto the barrel further forward and then you can use a long eye relief scope. I've seen it done on some of the Marlin guide guns before.

it would roll the turrents to the top and left side instead of top and right side, giving room for the cartridge to eject easier

Side mount is the way to go but frankly a scope on a 94 is a almost blasphemy. Those are to be open sight guns.

I have a 94 top eject with top mounted scope low mount risers and no problem with spent shells.

This sight is becoming one of our most popular selling sights due to the fact it can be mounted on almost any rifle with a dovetail cut in the barrel. The Barrel Mounted Dovetail sight looks great on modern and antique rifles alike. For example, this sight is "amazing" on the Ruger 10/22.ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN APERTURE

I want to put this sight on my old 94.

Thats what I did for mine, roll the scope. Makes it interesting sighting it in if you forget what you did, but mine worked well. I took it off and use it now just open sight.

                          Turn it into a scout...

Get an xs sight system "lever scout".($50)

We manufacture the best night sights, sight installation tools, ghost rings, AR BUIS, shotgun beads, and optic mounts for all your favorite gun brands.

It mounts forward of the receiver. If it's a Pre 1964 model 94 you will have to get it smithed. If it's post '64 you can do it yourself.

The xs sight rail is a permanent mount once installed.

Get a Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm IER (intermediate eye relief) scope ($300) and quick release rings. So you can use your open sights if you want.

I'm doing this to one of mine!
