Metal detector find. What is it?

Seeing the recent coin thread made me think someone here might know what I found metal detecting an old home site. House was there up until about 1950 I believe. I thought it was a coin at first, but cleaning it a bit dispelled that idea quickly. I scratched a small spot on the back, and it appears to be bright and shiny like copper. Is it a token, maybe a button? Bet somebody here has seen one before.

Looks like a button of sorts. What's the size relative to a quarter? Very cool

Thanks! Had you seen these before, or how did you know how to figure it out? It’s almost exactly the same size as a quarter flywise.

It rang a bell somewhere in my mind.
                I have never found one.
                Google lense helped too!

I have some of those that are from old old RailRoad ties. Bought from a guy that collected all kinds of RR relics
