Seeking Lodging during April in Austin

stay away from NE Austin, the airport area, and downtown

I would stay north of Austin in Round Rock.

The eclipse on April 8 may make it extremely difficult to find any lodging at all in the Austin area - at least during the first week or so of April. Austin is in the center of the line of eclipse and I think most places are booked solid from what I can tell.

Thanks everyone, I was hoping to find someone with an unoccupied cabin or mother-in-law cottage, etc. available so I could avoid the usual hotel or b&b type rental situations.

When you say Austin, what side of town? For example I wouldn't suggest Georgetown area if you're working in South Austin.

Do you have an RV or travel trailer that you could use?

The work location will be basically Central Austin.
I won’t be taking a RV.

You could always join facebook groups in Austin that could point you in the right direction. Airbnb maybe reach out to the host for a cheaper option. Just a few suggestions.
