There went my father of the year chances, and it is only February.

Cheated on his wife? I guessed I missed that part.
Lotta holier than though folks here.

I thank God that I don't have the addictive trait. I am sure it is one of the hardest battles to deal with. Especially a professional athlete. Maybe it was a social drink and not let's see how many can I can drink. Prayers sent.

I cant stand what pro sports has turned into, and cant stand most pro athlete's... (not saying there arent a FEW good ones out there).

Everyone says "hes a great athlete". Ok, yes he is. BUT, that dont make him a good man in my book. Do you know how many great athletes there are out there in the real world that just never got the chance to be seen because there family didnt have money or they didnt play for the right school or didnt have the money to go to camp?!

I am one that could have been... But, my family didnt have money to send me to training camps. instead I went into the military... There are tons of people out there that are or could have been even better than me that never get "the chance".

Then the ones that do. well, dont know how to act when they get it...
I'll agree with you. This thread points to what is wrong with the world, we put men in position of gods, and no one has personal accountability anymore.

I believe what redneck archer was talking about was a previous misstep where Hamilton was taking body shots of chicks in a bar. It may not have been a sexual breach of his marriage, but I doubt there is a one of you defending him who could justify that to their wives. Anyone????

For a man who spends Feb-Oct mostly away from home, choosing to go to a bar, rather than spend time with his kids and wife, to me is derelict.

If Hamilton doesn't like the spotlight he can quit the rangers, go back and work construction, sack groceries or whatever. Its his choice to hold his position in life. Many an alcoholic and addict have had to change careers because if impeded their quest for sobriety. Its a matter of which he wants more.

I pity the alcoholic/addict on the 2nd and subsequent drinks/hits, but not the 1st. The 1st is a choice, the second and thereafter are out of their control. Its a progressive disease, abstaining or not, it progresses and its effects grow worse with each occurrence. Hamilton has resources that most do not. He has a Ranger organization paid chaperone, along with all the other resources free at the addicts disposal. He needs to start playing the rest of the film out from beginning to end before taking that drink and realize that it will never end well.

one drink is too many, and 1000 never enough.

If I go out and party as a celebrity and am not at home 24/7 with my children Im a bad father?

Get over yourself. Josh is a great guy and for him to be actually alive much less playing pro ball again is a gift from God and he knows that. He messed up and had a lapse. The media just wants this to be a big deal so no body but him and his family know the truth.
I have seen the pics. if my wife or MOST wifes saw the pics of him with random chicks grabbing at his junk (with his shirt off), and freaking women on dance floors she and they would say you are cheating. Cheating is not just sexual relations... And, again judging by the pics it wasnt just a casual oh mr hamilton can I take a picture with you. there WAS "partying" going on... looks to me like your normal rock star type of life style.

Unless you know the guy personally none of us can say whether he is or isnt a good guy. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

The media didnt catch onto tiger woods until people started coming out of the wood work. and he has some talent to...

And the media said caught him drinking once in three years. that doesnt mean he hasnt done it in the mean time. Just saying.

you said it better than I...

And, I am not trying to be holier than though. I do drink. I enjoy a 6 pack on friday and saturday nights. I however do not go to bars. am not in satuations taking scandelous pictures half naked with half naked women. "the lord loves a drinking man"... But, just like anything else in life quantitly is key...

Look at the bold. No facts.

I cant say whether he is the best husband/father ever but what gives you the right to judge him on what he does with his life. You nor I were there the nights that this happened so we can only ASSUME what happened.
Ill let God do the judging for me

If my wife saw pics like that with me in it she may shoot me. or chop something off... maybe your wife is cool with that kind of behavior, but not mine.

And I am not condeming him to hell. All I am saying is that in my opinion, and what I strive for in my quest for manhood, that he doesnt fit the bill... Now, I dont have it all figured out, but...

Last month, my wife and I went to an opportunity camp charity event that featured Josh and his wife as the keynote speakers. As a christian, I was so inspired by his wife's testimony. It was incredible to see this woman stand by her man through the depths of the darkest of addictions. An addict is always an addict and they need very strong support systems around them, but above all they need Christ.

My mother-in-law is an alcoholic and suffered from it for over 30 years. Throughout the past decade, she enrolled in some of the top and most expensive addiction rehabilitation facilities across the country. None of them were effective for her. In 2008, we were so blessed to be contacted by a man in Odessa, TX who runs a faith-based addiction recovery center. My MIL was accepted to the program and stayed at the facility for an entire year until she graduated. Two and a half years later, she hasn't had a drop and her walk with the Lord is stronger than its ever been. I don't know if Josh has ever attended a facility like this, but I would encourage anyone who is struggling with addiction to enroll in such a facility.

I encourage you to pray for Josh and his family. Just because he's an athlete in the spotlight doesn't mean he's not fallible. I would much rather my kids be looking up to Josh who is an admitted addict, but a person who proclaims his faith and trust in the Lord, than most other athletes.

Your statements are bold and lack facts. You don't know Josh. Your not the judge of any man. A sin is a sin. I'm sure just like me you have your flaws and sins.

Most spouses wouldn't put up with his antics or continued behavior. Give his wife LOTS of credit - so far.
