Is the store-bought premade stuff that is dyed a color bad as well?

The store bought stuff is fine, it's just more expensive than mixing your own and everything I read says there is no need for the red food coloring. I put my feeders out yesterday - hoping to get visitors soon!

Put mine out in mid Feb. Didn't see a bird on them for 3 weeks so I took 'em down. Saw a post on another site where a guy in my area got his first sighting a couple days ago. Put mine back out yesterday. Nothin yet. This is the first time I've tried to feed 'em in the spring. I get lots in the fall.

Definitely just cane sugar and NO coloring. They find it as most feeders are red. The store bought is only bad for your bank account though some sites will try to convince folks it is bad to use. I put feeders out but want them on plants for what I enjoy.

Yes! I have a brother in law who only refills and cleans when it is empty. I've asked him to stop doing that over and over. I make my own and change it every other day.

I have 2-3 that show up in my backyard, working on getting more plants in over the next few years to try and attract/ feed more.

                        Coral honeysuckle
                        Salvias, different colors, different varieties
                        Mexican firebush
                        Turk's cap
                        Porterweed
                        Shrimp plant
                        Crossvine
                        Trumpet vine

There is a mixture here before winter. They all came back from the roots. This isn't all of them either, just what is in the shot.
