    Turkeys talking! It's almost time

Made a quick vid of a conversation with some Toms this morning

Why do the turkey always show up just for turkey season? I never see them any other time of the year. I'm not complaining, but it is weird.

Simple explanation, it's like bucks in rut. They are always there, they just are just more about congregating during their "rut". Many flocks also change areas between Fall and Spring.

We have one feeder down in a creek bottom we fill with milo in February and the turkeys are as thick as blackbirds around it daily. However when horny-time kicks in the next few weeks they tend to scatter. We don't hunt the feeder - just hope to keep some hens on our smallish property to attract the beard draggers

I’ve seen this on several place including the one I am on now. They definitely migrate/leave completely to other locations at different times of the year. Our place will have them from the spring to around October and then they disappear until spring again. Not sure why but it happens.

I keep one feeder full of a 50-50 mix of black sunflower seed and corn. They will stay at that feeder for hours pecking around. The Tom's have been strutting and carrying on for a couple weeks now. No fear of me in a buggy, I had to whistle to get these to look at me.
