Pharmacy can’t get my wife’s prescription

Anyone else having problems getting prescriptions filled?

My wife has diabetes and takes Monjaro. Last week the pharmacy let us know that they can’t get the 12.5 as their warehouse has it on back order. So my wife called the doctor office up as they have a pharmacy on site. Nope, it is on back order there too. We checked around at the other pharmacy in town and they are in the same boat. Luckily for my wife, she has some insulin in an inhaled form that she can take so we aren’t in dire need, but I’m wondering how widespread is this shortage, and what other drugs are in short supply.

Not yet but maybe soon. I've got 4 doses left but my doctor told me insurance was going to stop covering it. Will find out in a week or 2.

Yep all the time, my wife has multiple medications that H‑E‑B can’t get , monjjaro is one of them ( it can be made at a private pharmacy for a price)
the most frustrating one is her spinal cord medicine, sometimes it’s H‑E‑B, sometimes it’s insurance holdup

imo a doctor should not prescribe monjaro if it’s completely unavailable nationally
      except California

The company that processes a majority of prescriptions got hacked/attacked and they have said it would impact prescription a availability at some point. Maybe something to do with United Healthcare but impacting people across many different insurance companies

There's a whole movement around mounjaro for weight loss. I can name several people that are currently on it strictly for weight loss. More money in selling it to fat people than the ones actually needing it I'm sure.

Check Amazon Pharmacy. Easy to get your prescription transferred and most meds are WAY cheaper if you have insurance covering it. My wife has to use a face cream that at CVS and everywhere else is is over $100 per month, on amazon it is less than $20 per month!

if that's the same as semiglutide then absolutely the case, our pharmacy is a zoo since only one within a very large area that compounds it and unavailable unless compounded now that it's used for weight loss......Viagra was originally a cardiac med but more money in bone.......beneficial side effect discovered and worth a lot more money

Yep, I'm having difficulty with two of my medications as well. One is for migraines...I haven't run out of it yet but I'm low on it. I don't go anywhere without it and the thought that I may run completely out scares me to death.

Bad deal for the people who really need it..

Eli Lilly better step up their game. The demand for that stuff has shot through the roof in the last few months since it’s now the new “weight loss miracle shot”..

Fat people don’t fat shame. 😆 Just pointing out why there’s a shortage.

There's been some chatter going around on this...I saw a bit where if things got sideways w/ China, we would be out in no time on all kinds of meds. Had no idea how much of the OTC stuff we are dependent on.

The last I had heard is between India and China, they supply 90% of either the drugs or ingredients to the entire world.

We’ve got a decent stockpile of medications, but even those will eventually run out if China and India cut us off.

Who knows what to believe anymore because we live in a world of lies, illusions and smoke and mirrors when it comes to all of the government ran alphabet agencies but here’s this but you can bet it’s not the whole story!!

“In 2018, according to the article, “China accounted for 95% of U.S. imports of ibuprofen, 91% of U.S. imports of hydrocortisone, 70% of U.S. imports of acetaminophen, 40% to 45% of U.S. imports of penicillin and 40% of U.S. imports of heparin, according to Commerce Department data.”
