    2012 F150 4X4 5.0 Thoughts & Info

Thinking of getting a 2012 F150 with the 5.0. Any of y'all on here that have one have any thoughts or info on them such as real mpg , what gears you running etc. How does it pull a light trailer such as 4000 lbs or less. Any info would be Greatly Appreciated.

5.0 is the standard V-8, less torque and tow rating that the 5.4, but more HP and supposedly better mpg's.

My neighbor has one in a 2011 crew 4x4 and said he gets 18.5 mpg back and forth to work which is mixed city and highway. I don't know if he's ever hand calculated or just glanced at the display once.
I do know he is happy with it, and evidently so is his wife who drives it more than her 2011 Fusion.

I drove a 2012 rental for a few weeks with the 5.0. It will SMOKE my 2006 with the 5.4. Not even close to being close. I was VERY impressed with it, even more than the Ecoboost.

Wow, that's impressive. I bet the 5.0 would be getting a lot more buzz had the ecoboost not been released.

Which one will last the longest would be my measuring stick between the two- too bad we just don't know yet.

We didn't know the early model 5.4l 3 valves (I had one) couldn't have the plugs changed , without chancing then snapping off in the block, until people put enough miles on them to have to do so.
