Side by side with hunting rack

I’ve been thinking about finally investing in a new lease ride with a hunting rack. I’d prefer to purchase a side by side with a hunting rack rather than a full sized vehicle. My only hesitation when it comes to the side by side is payload capacity with the rack installed and one or two guys sitting in it while riding around. Do any of y’all have any bad experiences with side by sides and hunting racks? Blown CV joints, shock problem ETC?

I’ve worked my Can Am a lot with 1K+ of feed, a full yeti cooler, and 4 guys in it. I can’t imagine that’s any lighter than rack with a couple of extra guys.

I have a 2020 canam hd8(non crew), i've had two people in the cab and three people up on the rack with no issues. I did upgrade my springs to heavy duty springs.

I knew someone that had a two guys on the hunting rack going up a hill and it flipped over backwards and killed one of them. Just saying it’s a it’s not much weight holding the front down.

I've driven a smaller SxS (Pioneer 500) for 6 years. I've been surprised how fast things go from OK to Oh-****. My 2 cents is I wouldn't do it. Probably be fine 99+% of the time with a larger SxS, but hit a big hole or an irrigation ditch or something you weren't expecting and you have a potential disaster on your hands.

I have a polaris 800 crew with a high rack, never any issues. We ride around a lot with two guys up top and no problems to speak of.

If I were doing it I would buy a polaris 6x6 - I have had three of them with racks and they handled it well. Here is what I did on my Kubota - winch lifted it for stationary hunting and lowered it when driving around

they can get top heavy so be careful when riding around with someone on top
