If you are not going to be doing any heavy work it will be fine. Good machines. Hell of a lot better than a Mule

If you are getting it done with that mule, that HD 7 will get it done for sure. Look up the specs on both. I have the HD9 and it's every bit of machine I need for farm or deer lease work. It's a beast, does great. I'm sure the 7 is a fantastic machine.

The Defender will run circles around the 4010.
          I just bought a 2023 HD9. I had a 2015 Pro-FXT.
if I could of bought the Ranch ProFXT (1000) for same price as the CanAm, I would have.
I loved my 2015 mule and don't see a lot of advantage w the CanAm.
Few more Bells & whistles maybe.

Loved the one I had. Never had an issue with it. Have mule pro fxt now cause I wanted second row seating and didnt want the cost of can am. Love the mule and ability to extend bed but feel the can am was a superior beast. Suspension was much better but needs to be cause that thing would haul arse.

Not sure about the hd7, but I have the defender max hd 10, and it's ride is far superior then the rangers. I guide on a ranch and the others all have rangers. All the clients even the guides like the way mine rides over the rangers. I'm sure the 7 will be the same.

Defender is a much smoother ride. Rides more like a car. A lot faster also. But it bottoms out easier and seems to attract sticks far easier hitting underneath (versus Pioneer and Rangers). It also seems less sturdy built with more plastic.
Mine is still running great after a couple years. So it sort of depends on what you're wanting. A pure workhorse or a more smooth bigger ride.

I have a 2017 Kawasaki fx ranch edition, 2023 Polaris Xp1000 texas edition, and a 2023 can am defender, the model that is for extreme mudding, I like them all, really digging the can am, only had it for a month now.

Very interested in this thread. I'm looking at the Defender HD9 because of the issue RiverRat1 brings up: the undercarriage and debris (as well as bottoming out on rocks). The HD9 has a full shield, the HD7 does not.

For about $400 you can install S3 HD springs on the Defender, and they’re worth every penny. The ride is much better, gives you about 2” additional ground clearance, and a lot more load capacity without bottoming out. The ride with them is fantastic, and it was already a good ride to begin with.

I regularly had 1000+ lbs of corn, 4 grown men, a yeti cooler, and sometimes a 12’ tandem axle trailer with blinds or more feed behind me. With the S3 springs I still had more clearance than a stock Defender. I did opt for the HD+ in the rear though, as I almost always had a heavy payload back then.
