I hate the engage grip. Lol
Especially on the Lift, for some reason it was worse. I took that sucker off quick and replaced it with the UV Beereal grip…It’s so much better. I did the same on my VXR 31.5.

I do understand the difference of a 29.5 vs the 33 feel though.

I just have a front stabilizer on mine. I’m loving the new Mossy Oak Bottomland camo.
I have shot the bows with the stabilizer, although I didn't when shooting back-to-back for the interruption in the video. I just shot each bare bow. I was mainly comparing draw cycle between bows. Keep in mind that there is almost 3/4 lb. difference in weight between the 33" P4 and the 29.5" Lift, so there probably should be a different feel beyond even ATA length differences.

What bow color are you going with when you get another 33”? That new Earth definitely looks awesome. I was back and forth on that one but went with the Mossy Oak. Almost went with black as well. Lol

If I didn’t have the Green Ambush already on my VXR, I probably would have went with it. It’s a sweet color. Heck, I like all the colors.

Only half as much as a Hoyt. 🤣

I tried all the V models when they came out over the few years and I couldn't give up my Traverse for any of them. I have not shot the Phase 4 or the Lift though. What do you like better about the Phase 4 over the Traverse?
I never shot the Traverse and the P4 side-by-side (there were essentially 4 iterations of bows after the Traverse (VXR, V3, V3X and P4). Remember that, starting with the V3, Mathews extended the riser lengths of the bows and went to their "beyond parallel" limb design. Even at 33"ATA, the riser of the Traverse was 1" shorter than the 31" ATA of the V3. The riser of the Traverse (28.5") is significantly shorter than the P4 (~32").

The Phase 4 also included the Bridgelock sight option, which allows for use with the Low Profile Quiver. I like how "compact" the bow and integrated components are with the P4 (and Lift.)

My SIL is shooting my old Traverse. I'll see if I can shoot it against the P4 to get a feel for the differences.

I actually went back with the Granite on the 33. My LP quiver (which I purchased with my P4 (black riser/granite limbs)) is Granite and doesn't match the new Earth color. I had a discussion with Kevin about this a couple of weeks ago, but if your plan is to keep accessories when you change bows, it probably makes sense to stick with the black option for the accessories instead of trying to match the current year model bows. The animals probably don't care, but I didn't like having the Earth colored bow with the Granite riser...and I'm not going to spend another $250 to get a quiver that matches!

Nice…That’s a cool color as well.
Yup. I agree on the accessories, for sure.
I do have a black Mathews quiver but couldn’t help my self on the matching mossy oak bridgelock stabilizer though. Lol

The black accessories made total sense and I am glad Michael pointed that out to me. I keep bows a little longer than some, but not forever like others. On top of that, that Earth color really jumps off the page with the black stuff added to it.

I think it would be cool to see the review of the Phase 4 33 and the Lift 33 side by side. To me that will be a remarkably valuable video for those thinking about buying a new bow. Another that would be really helpful I think is the review of the rigged out 33 and the rigged out 29.5 side by side.

As for me I am really liking this 29.5. I have shot it every day since I got it.

You know the first few times I grabbed the thing it felt like a toy. I can only imagine the difference in weight carrying it in the mountains.

FYI, I did reach out to one of my contacts at Mathews and they verified that the SAS for the P4/V3X 33" isn't compatible with the Lift 33". I have both and the Lift SAS is about 1/2" longer than the one for the P4.

I can see where one of these SAS can really help when one is out and hunting and something goes wrong - so long as you have your Allen wrenches with you. You have to back it off a few turns before using it, but it is a pretty ingenious design.

                              Nice work Michael.

Couple of things…the Traverse is a 33” ATA bow.

The higher IBO on the Lift can mostly be attributed to the new 80 pound module.

As for a dealer perspective, It’s the Switchweight system that is the difference maker in selling a lot of these bows. 55,60,65,70,75 and 80 pound choices. So the bow can be shot 40-80 pounds with a simple mod change vs. a $300 limb swap. This is great for consumers but a strain on dealers. I’d venture to say most dealers have thousands of dollars in mods laying around. To make it worse, mods for the Vertix, VXR, V3, V3X and Phase 4 are different than the new Lift.

As for a shop shooter guy perspective, I see you got your bow in November. I was told I’d get one in June/July. I spend 30 hours a week in a shop selling bows. I hunt over 100 days a year. You’d think that getting a bow in my hands would be a priority, even on the smallest level. It’s not. So, I’ll be keeping my Phase 4 this year as compared to the last 8 years of getting a new bow at a somewhat reasonable time frame. And the Hoyt Alpha X is one hell of a fine bow. July??? Lmao. Rant over lol
