Trying to get some input on if it is worth it to take a 270 win from 22" to 20" with a suppressor. Gun is getting barrel threaded so didn't know if it made sense to go shorter vs ballistics. I know 22"-26 is ideal per the book but looking for first hand experience. 400-500 yards would be max shot,

I am not as familiar with the ballistics on a .270, but we cut down all of our predator guns (.22 creed, .223, .22-250) to 18" and I would do it again in a heartbeat. They are a lot more balanced and easier to maneuver. We were told at the time that we would lose somewhere around 50 fps per inch cut down with those calibers, and we never really shoot past 400. I have not noticed any big differences with those ranges. Again this is with predator calibers and might not be the same with you, but I feel like I shoot better with the shorter barrels because it is more balanced. I would rather have it that way and lose a little speed than long and front heavy IMO.
