Where to buy fish for pond stocking

I’m ready to start adding fish to a pond. It’s about 3/4 acre. Depth is 8’ on one end down to 25’ on the other.
plan to first introduce minnows probably flatheads. I want to add bass or even Georgia giant perch in it for the grandkids to have a blast catching.

I live in Votaw. Can anyone recommend a good place nearby to purchase fish? Also any recommendations on what fish to stock it with. I want something easy for kids to catch. Thanks.

Hybrid perch are good too grow fast and big. When we stocked ours we used fat head minnows, copper nose blue gill (great for bass), black bass and channel cats. Mud cats just show up and even caught a crappie we never stocked and it was huge. We are in north Texas and used Pond King. Check with local feed stores the hatcheries make the rounds in our area. We had ours delivered and they took a good while getting them acclimated with slow introduction of pond water into holding tanks, Pond King told us the recommended stocking rate. I think the hatchery that delivers around here is from Oklahoma, Dunn's fish farm, and they have a schedule of places going to be.

I'm no help, but I've always wanted a pond "dedicated" to growing giant (1+ lb) bream. They're a blast to catch on light tackle, fairly easy to catch for kids, and great table fare.

I've known a few guys that have used Stockmypond.com. They travel all over the state and lower south visiting feed stores with a huge truck full of different species.
Lo and behold they'll be in Cleveland tomorrow 2/15.
Look like they'll have channel cat, large mouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, red ear bream, and fathead minnows.

You might call the state fish hatchery in San Marcus and see if there is a place closer to votaw. We got fish for our pond from San Marcus and they have pretty good advice (I think) about what type of fish to stock based on the size of the pond. Unfortunately, San Marcus is a haul from votaw.

I don’t know where this guy is headquartered, but he has truck and a route. My son and I have both bought from him and have been very satisfied. He might be in your territory occasionally.

I second copper nose bluegill and black bass. Fathead minnows are great forage fish.

I will look them up. Maybe they can bring me minnows tomorrow.

We use bait barn in College station. They have everything you need . Not sure on how far they go but we have had great success with them in the past for our 6 ponds

This is what I did. I have a big brim and crappie pond. October of last year we bought 12 dozen minnows and the kids caught 96 crappie. It was a great day

I will admit, I know nothing about bass. I guess black bass are the way to go? I was told my pond won’t be big enough for crappie because they will eat everything in it.

I'm more interested in the big perch/ brim hybrids than anything.

I want this to be a fun fishing pond for kids.

If white crappie need a big pond, hybrid blue gills grow big but they don't reproduce so better to get established before bass, I stocked them after bass and no idea how many survived and they weren't cheap...... Copper nose blue gill great forage fish and reproduce but don't get real big but kids still love catching them. I put plenty of brush for the bait fish for cover

Jeff, you don’t really need to stock bass. I have 2 ponds that are in the same general size range as yours. One was stocked with channel cats (which I hate!), and the other was stocked with various perch. Have caught bass out of both up to 5#. Never put a bass in either of them. Wish I did not have the channel cats. They keep that pond muddy all the time. Other one stays pretty clear. Both similar in structure.
