If there are small pieces of metal on the initial hours of running, why aren’t they caught in the oil filter?

Why break-in procedure for a generator and not all small 4 stroke engines?

I don't think I've ever owned a generator with an oil filter. I currently have two "bangers" and three inverters. Can't say any of them have an oil filter but maybe I'm missing it.

Unless theyre 2 stroke, theyre gonna have filter. Ive never seen or heard of a 2 stroke genny.
      Have oil.
      Have filter.

My dual fuel genny breakin for my rv, I ran both fuels to half spent first tank and put under low loads with intermittent moderate to high strains…mainly to ensure darn thing operated my trailer like I wanted…with both fuels.

      Good luck MrBlessed.

Thank you sir, I've done the break in for the gasoline side but intend on test out the propane side next chance I get just to make sure it sound good and does what it's supposed to.

Got two Westinghouse, two Firman, and a Champion right now. Not a single one has an oil filter nor do the manuals mention an oil filter for changing oil procedures. I've owned in the past Wen, multiple Champion, multiple Firman, and an old Black & Decker or something long ago. I've never seen an oil filter.

I didn't see anything about an oil filter in the manual for this one either.

Portable generators don’t have oil filters.

I have a Westinghouse igen 4500DF and all it has ever run on is propane. It has 700-800 hours on it now. When it was new I ran it 30 minutes no load, 30 minutes light load, then it went to work.

Like others have said, drain the oil after the first hour of runtime, do it again after 8 hours. You're trying to get all the metal shavings from manufacturing out of the motor. The closest thing you're going to get to an oil filter is the replacement oil drain plug that has a magnet on the end to catch the metal. Change the oil every 24 hours and it will last forever.

Youre right. I checked my dual fuel genny. No filter. Definitely a face slap moment. I appreciate you posting and bringing this up. Thank you!
