    Restaurant BBQ pricing

Just ate at a local BBQ joint and noticed they recently raised prices on take-out:

    $27.50/lb for lean brisket
    $21.00/lb German style sausage
    $25.50/lb pork ribs

    Are you seeing similar pricing?

Hell, there's places charging $38/lb for brisket. People have lost their minds.

All I know is everything keeps going up in price, especially food prices. Inflation is not under control.

It's not just BBQ places but that is where I have noticed the largest jumps at places I frequent. High prices are everywhere but I rather enjoy staying home to cook more.

Calf/cattle prices are very high. So is hay, fertilizer, cubes, tires, liquid feed, fencing, etc. I don’t blame the steak and bbq restaurants for price increases

I don’t buy bbq as much ans I did, but luckily have some venison for some of our Home cooked meals.

Yeah, it’s pretty good but not $21/lb good.

Prices going up and portions getting smaller.

For those prices on bbq, you're better off buying and smoking your own brisket.

The sausage price is extra crazy. For sausage.

I've seen some restaurants start selling meat by the 1/2 pound so it doesn't look as bad.

I have been telling people, it is cheaper to eat steak (depending on the steak of course) than brisket. But in defense of the BBQ places, I have seen some selling for $18/lb. That is cheap. By the time you buy a brisket, trim several lbs of fat, add your seasonings, etc. , it is not a cheap process.

That is why I smoke my own.

Cheese at Whataburger costs $.60 a slice. That is 75% margin just on buying a pack from HEB and selling it at $.60 a slice, much less the bulk discount Whataburger gets. So is it inflation or are a lot of restaurants just raising prices until people quit paying them?

This is true, but the employee putting the cheese on that burger makes $18.00 per hour.
