I am in the same camp as a lot of these guys in no desire to hunt the curated ram species being the Texas dall, black Hawaiian or painted desert.

now something like a true mouflon or red sheep is a different story.

Based on where your at if your wanting to expand horizons I would look at Red Stag and maybe axis

Can't help you with price, because I have no desire to shoot a sheep. Not even for a hundred bucks.

i have a neighbor that has had axis, black buck and they only have 50% at best survival. we have teens and colder for multiple days every year. His place like mine are full of draws and brush, grass so plenty cover.

thanks guys. Looks like if we get any rams we would have to stick with red sheep. I think rams are off the table. Thanks for all the info that you provided.

Good luck with your hunts you’ve be surprised what some parents will pay for their kids to shoot a ram. Maybe do like t temple does tag them with different colored ear tags to determine the costs. I have no idea idea what rams are going for now but like everything else I’m sure it’s more than their worth. Good luck.

We didn't lose a single animal besides a barazinga during the big freeze and it was it the teens to 0 for a week straight here. Feed em well and some wind breaks and they are pretty hardy. Axis bb fallow barazinga and a few others. Even if you lost some you'd still come out between than trying to sell ram hunts. Plenty of alfalfa/feed and ours hold up pretty well.

Big rams, 28”+, can bring some good money.
I guided hunts for a ranch that charged $2500 for Rams starting at 28” and had no problem getting it. $3000 if they broke 31”.
I would not sell a ram smaller than that to hunt. Let them get old and big. And keep them wild.
