Some from both gets on the southern rock side of things, but definitely worth listening to.

Drive-By Truckers (specifically Mike Cooley’s songs) has some pretty good stuff. I’m hit or miss at best with the ones Patterson Hood does, mostly miss.

Todd Snider is pretty decent. Kellen Smith for a more country type vibe.
