I should say, "Somewhat Better". Definitely not as severe as it was, but still some inflammation for no reason. She's trying to chase down the culprit, but at this point, it is NOT dairy, gluten, sugar, grains, legumes, etc. Because we've had NONE.

I feel great, besides some aggravation in my hip flexor. Just need more stretching.

My BP this morning was 134/84....down from 161/111 just 18 days ago. Only thing I've changed is EVERYTHING.

21 Days in. I honestly feel like I'm creating some good habits. I've been tracking calories everyday, and maintaining a good deficit. I actually have found it difficult to eat more than 1500-1600 calories. Considering my TDEE is about 3300 calories, that's a pretty big deficit. I'm eating pretty lean, with good fats added such as avocado and nuts. This week, I upped the intensity of my workouts and will likely modify again at the end of the 30 days. I've enjoyed the extra challenges, such as journaling (something I've never done), Coldplunge, intentionally making time for each other, praying together everyday, etc. I do miss a drink on the back porch, watching the sunset, but I'm convinced now that alcohol was affecting my health in ways that I really didn't recognize. Just 21 days in, my BP is better. I'm sleeping 1000% better. My snoring is 1000% better. I awake refreshed and rested instead of tired and groggy.

So far, so good. Just nine days to go to complete the challenge, but I'm excited about the new habits that I'm creating. Thanks for all the encouragement, well wishes and prayers.

Well, look at you! Sounds like you're on your way to a better quality of life. Hope Mrs. Curtintex is realizing equally good results and that she, too, feels like this Whole30 exercise has had positive effects on her sleep and mood as well.

It has. Of course, my good sleep probably helps her good sleep.

Day 25. Not one cheat. I'm pretty proud of that. On Tuesday, I had a work dinner at one of my favorite steakhouses. I showed incredible discipline, skipping the Black Walnut Old Fashioned and later the Gooey Chocoloate Butter Cake. I had a medium-rare Filet and brussel sprouts, instead. Water only. It was a sad **** meal.

Great job! Congratulation's to both of you for sticking with it.

5 days left. I'm pretty used to the eating by now. Jennie is not. She's probably not even eating enough calories, just because she said she's tired of meat, potatoes and vegetables. I could eat that everyday, forever, I think.

I'm interested to see if I've lost weight. I know for sure that I've lost some inches. I have this one maroon Under Armour shirt that I got for Christmas of 2022, that I haven't been able to wear because I looked like a stuffed sausage in it. I wore it yesterday for the first time and it fit loosely. I've also moved up two notches on my belt and took my pants off yesterday without unbuttoning them. I've now had a few colleagues comment "are you losing weight?", so I guess it's noticeable to others. I'm committed to keeping it up at this point. I feel really good, besides some nagging back pain that I think is caused by my simple ab workout.

Great job Curt, really proud of you 2. I believe its not the alcohol that was the problem, I think its the amount. I am a huge proponent of Alcohol in moderation.

Oh, for sure. Our kids went off to college and we started acting like college kids ourselves. Whiskey drink after work, glass of wine or two with supper, bottle of wine in the hot tub, etc. Lots of empty calories and tons of sugar that add up quickly. When you take them out of your diet, they also add up quickly and you can create a significant calorie deficit pretty quickly.

Sounds like y’all put on the Freshman 15. Again.

Way to go Curt! Congrats on the victories. You inspired me to make some changes. I've lost about 4 lbs this week from no alcohol, smaller portions, no eating after 6 pm, etc. I feel better already.

Way to go, Curt! I'll be curious to see your results on the scale, but it sounds like there are noticeable improvements, regardless. Kudos to you, too, Bobby! Keep up the good work.
