My ranch owners soon to be thirteen year old son who is an avid hunter and killed more than his fair share of animals (with a rifle) is starting to get very interested in bow hunting. I know he is going to spend most of his time on YouTube but I’m a bit nostalgic and spent hours and hours reading different HUNTING books when I was young. I have bought him the Hunter’s Encyclopedia and several of the North American Hunter books that I know he has read. I am looking for suggestions on some good introductory bow hunting books. I’m sure there are some good ones with an introduction to archery, shot placement, the importance of wind and scent control. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hunting with a Bow and Arrow
by Saxton Pope
written in 1922
A classic, and the principles remain today. Pope shot blacktail deer at 100 yards with a yew bow and handmade arrows! The section on his getting permission from Teddy Roosevelt and bowhunting griz in Yellowstone makes the hair stand up on my arms.
