I was thinking the same exact thing looking at these pics. I'm a big chicken when it comes to fire. I've had a few small ones get away from me while burning piles around my house. You talk about all out panic!!!

Having a welding business and working mostly in the country I don't like fires. When your head is in the hood, a fire can get big in the time it takes to burn one rod. I've never had to call the fire department but I've come close a few times. Every time I thought I would have a heeart attack trying to get the fire out. This is one job that needs to be left to the professionals.

Your fire brings back flashbacks! Had the bright idea to lite the woods on fire to burn out under brush. Lets just say when dead cured 30' oaks catch fire its not a good feeling. Never been so happy to see the rain!!

Are you burning near the westwood subdivision past the dam?

dont know where you are talking about unless waterwood on livingston and that is george russell burning his own stuff. burned north of 255 right against river on east side of river this week. will be up in moore plantation area next week if the weather is good.

I try and stay away for subdivisions causes too much trouble!!!

It takes a different kind of person to do this i guess, most are scared of it as they should be if they really dont know what they are doing. i have burned well over 200,000 acres the last 10 years with average tract around 125-150 had good, bad and ugly, you just have to have good lines, know how to read the fuel, when and when not to light and most importantly stay on top of it. most days i ride a 4 wheeler 50+ miles just watching line and thats the key to it.

when you burn clearcuts, you are going to have catchouts regardless, you just have to put them out fast, it helps when you are surrounded by company land. Most of my catch outs are stopped at a 1/4 acre or less but i have had a few booboo's!! Like 2010, i rushed a tract trying to get finished and it bit me n tha butt!!LOL!! ended up with a 300acre catchout, luckily no damage as it was just grass on a tract that we burned the year before that hadnt been planted yet.

little pig is a mess, already thinks he is a dog!!!
