No, that would be a Cara Cara! Hate those things!! And they're about as protected as the Bald Eagle!
I've had some great encounters with Bald Eagles over the years up on Lake Livingston and also out on the Katy-Brookshire prairie... One of those eagles can take out a crippled goose QUIIIIICK!! It's amazing to watch them! Pretty cool to watch 'em swoop down and snatch a fish right out the water too! Have a pair that come through here at the house pretty regular each Winter... Seen 'em fishing my tanks, but never been able to get them on video catching a fish...

They will catch fish but they are primarily scavengers, just like buzzards.

Yes, I’ll give you the fact they seem really cool when you see one in tx. Conversely, when you’re around them all the time you realize they are nothing like that majestic mental image of them we all have in our head.

Here’s a few pics I took at work while visiting a few job sites. Outside of fishing season, this is what a typical day looks like for them. Scavenging the landfill.
