I fabbed new legs for mine to keep it coon proof. So far, a camera on it 24/7/365, in two years only one coon made it to the feed. He was there for one pic. Click image for larger version

Curious, I have one leaking and for the life of me, I cannot find where.

Other than that, I like them. I did chop about 6-8” off the legs and add some of these.

Usually start this time of year so the bucks can regain a healthy body mass after blowing hard and heavy thru the rut. Also doesn’t hurt to feed them thru drought periods as well when natural browse doesn’t have the full nutrients it would have during a wet season.

Our lease is transitional hub I think for the deer in our area but I still put out a protein feeder and try and keep it filled till August. Between timed and free choice feeders I’d rather have a couple smaller free choice feeders in the pen then one big one a jerk of a buck can lord over.

They are going to empty 200lbs pretty quick in August/September. Hope you are close by to keep it full.
I'd go with a bigger hopper.

I put out a 200# & a 350# about a month ago. Very easy to set up. It took the deer about 2 weeks before they even began to eat out of them. About 50-60% of the deer are using them and feel like all of them will soon.

We have 3 in different sizes and 3 of their 55 gallon drum conversion tube kits. All working great after 3 years and surviving regular hog use. Great product for the $$$.

If you have alot of squirrels be ready for them to chew on it.

Mine has been up more than two years and no squirrels have chewed on it yet. Retrain your squirrels !

I've got one 1K lb feeder remaining. It has The Hammer timer and CoonHoods on it. Great set up. However, if you have cattle around, you better make sure they are kept out of the feed pen. Those bottom feed tubes on the BossBuck will not stand up to the brutality of cattle.

Squirrels chewed holes in my 350# Boss Buck in east TX, but my two 1000# Boss Bucks with Hammer timers have been running perfectly since 2017 in NW OK.

I didn’t have any luck with the 350lb because the squirrels chewed into the lids. The 600 and 1000lb ones I’ve been using for 7 years as protein and corn feeders with great luck!

Other than the squirrels chewing the top of one of the feeder tubes, no issues, I like them.
                              I have three.

We have about 15 or 20 on our lease in East Tx,they are the 600 and 1000 lb sized ones.I have only heard of 1 that the top was chewed by squirrels. We run protein pellets with corn and soybean mix and they have worked great for the last 6 years. If they are not in a pen the hogs will bite the end of the tubes and break the ends off.You do have to pay attention if running straight corn and adjust the feed rate gap tighter.
