    2017'ish F250 6.2L fuel pump problems

My son and I both own 2017/2018 F250 6.2L gassers. His fuel pump started acting up within the first year and then completely went out....3 times. Last one wasn't under warranty and they wouldn't cover it...even though it was obviously a known issue.

Mine has been acting up for the last year or so.

Symptoms: Starts great on a cold start. Instant turn over. But drive it for a good amount of time. Stop somewhere. Then restart on a hot or warm start and it doesn't want to turn over. Long crank or no crank. Try it a few times and it'll finally turn over. I know it's gonna leave me stranded eventually.

InterWebs shows a lot of people complaining about the same thing...but no recall or replacement offer by Ford.

One guy in another state said he talked the service department into doing some type of compression test on cold start vs. hot start and due to the fact that the specs were way off, they replaced it with a newer style fuel pump.

Anyone experienced these "symptoms" or had any success getting them fixed without paying for a new pump?

Yes, I know...."get a chevy", "my ram doesn't do that", "toyota or die". I appreciate the GED level insight, but looking for people that actually owned the 2017-2019'ish superduty with 6.2L.

Ford is notorious for not acknowledging systemic problems like this. It gets even worse when you get into their specialty cars.

Your best best to get it replaced for free is to have a good relationship with a tech at a Ford dealership. I've heard (never used them) that the Ford dealership/service in Cleveland, and specifically Jason Tollett, are very good to work with on stuff like that. He was going to help me on my track car, but I chased down the issue before I drove up there to have him look at it. He was more than helpful on FB diagnosing the issue, and scheduling when to get me in timely.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I'll probably start with the service manager at Henson Ford in Madisonville, where I bought it.

I have a 2017 and have the long crank issue as well. It hasn't left me stranded yet but has made us worry on several occasions if it was going to actually start. In to hear what others say or what you find out.

About what mileage did that start to be a problem Bobby ? My 6.2 has 110K on it now and no such problems yet. I did have some kind of doo-hickey go bad on the fuel/emissions system but it was a $35 part and a friend replaced it for me. That’s all that has broke on mine.

                        30 or 40k. It's a low mileage truck. Only 66k now

I have noticed my 18 doing this a couple times randomly. Didn’t know this was a known issue. Mines at 45k..

I have not owned a Ford since I got my GED in ‘91. No reason to send my mechanic a Christmas card every year. Best looking trucks on the road, problem is keeping them on the road. Now that the smart *** **** has been said I will be playing 42 tomorrow or Saturday with a 40+ year Ford mechanic and will try to remember to ask him about the solution if there is one and let you know what he says. If it’s a common problem, he’s dealt with it.

Thanks...I hope you get a chance to talk with him. I left a VM with service manager yesterday. Still waiting. And I hear ya! I never bought another Chevy after my new '91 silverado left me, wife, newborn stranded on I-10 on the way to Camp Pendleton, CA.
