Minimum Protein Pen Size?

I made my pen round with 8 hog panels. And it has trees and some brush in it. Have a feeder about 250 yards away without a pen and the deer dont even stop at it on their way to the pen.

I have read on here that some make theirs really small and the deer love it, but I prefer a small to medium size to allow for them to do their walking around the feeder between mouth fulls.

They way I understand it, cows will use anything to scratch themselves. Corners are a go-to source for this. Reduce the chances of this by going with a round pen. Also, the access/walk thru swing out, not in. I've had cows push my gate open. Bad luck, but a lesson learned.
