With enough meat to make even a small batch of sausage you'd probably end up destroying your food processor as well eventually. I'd find a good quality grinder for $100 like at Northern Tool and roll with it.

I've not used a food processor, but from what I understand they're a bit on the slow side.
Yes, I have friends I can borrow one from.

I was just wondering if a food processor would work for something like this.

I appreciate all the responses and ideas.
This was something I was just curious about.

I did look up a video of a guy making breakfast sausage using a food processor for grinding the meat and it seemed to work well in small batches but you’d have to be careful not to grind it too fine.

I agree with this. Grinding meat with the Kitchen Aid mixer works well, especially with the larger grinder plate, but trying to stuff casings with this attachment does not work so well -- very laborious and slow. A stuffer is best to use along side the Kitchen Aid.

I have one you can have. It’s a small electric one. Probably need to sharpen blade and plate. Send me your address if you aren’t close to Danbury tx. 979-215-88zeroseven

I'd be worried about it getting too hot in there. Keeping everything cold is import and spinning around at high speed isn't good for keeping stuff cold.

                  This.

Also why I don’t like the KitchenAid attachment. I used this setup for two years and it would get hot. Also thought I was going to burn up the mixer as well, it was so hot after using.

It will work, but a food processor will emulsify the meat pretty quickly making it the consistency of meat in a hotdog.

There are two Kitchen Aid mixers on the market. The Pro and the Artisan. The Pro is just under 1HP and will process a deer fast. I have only used that for 10 years. The Artisan model is not as powerful so I have nothing to say about it, but saw that there are differing opinions of the ability of the "Kitchen Aid" Mixer so I figured it was important to know there is a difference in power between models.

I dont think a food processor will be good for grinding at all. The meat will be mushy amd like a patte. At best you would get texture like bologna or hot dogs.
