    Best Budget Used 4 Wheelers?

If you were looking for an old used "beater" 4 wheeler just to get down in the woods with where a buggy can't go, what would you look for? I'm thinking about trying to find an old one for under $1000 somewhere just to get around in some tight spots. Something I can throw in the back of the truck easy. It seems like the old Kawasaki Bayou's from the late 90's and early 2000's were pretty good little bikes. What about the Yamaha's?

In before 1000 others say it. Honda Rancher.

Lol yah I figured that one was obvious. I have my doubts that I can find one that's running for under $1000 though.

I’ve got a Honda and I love it. I may actually sell it. I’m bringing it home from my West Texas lease this weekend. You can’t kill those old Hondas.

i wouldn’t take less than $1,000 for it if I was gonna sell it.

I would suggest Honda as well, but I would guess it would be tough to snatch one up in that price range.

The old air cooled were way more reliable than the newer water cooled.

Yah I figured in that price range I'm gonna be looking mostly at some 90's models.

I've got an 87 Honda fortrax 250 (2wd) that I might let go after deer season. Runs fine but it is +35 years old, so it's not perfect. It is my dad's but I've had it for years. I'd sell it for whatever price he says. Certainly under your budget.

Depending how close you are I'd definitely be interested. I'm in Livingston and travel near Palestine and Henderson pretty regular.

Don't overlook Yamaha. You might could fine a Big Bear or Kodiak from the early to mid-90s time range. Getting below the $1,000 price point is the tough part as even the older name brand machines in ok condition seem hold that $1,000-1,500 value. The Kawsaki bayou 220 would be another good find as mentioned.

I bought a yamaha timberwolf off TBH just to have around for the kids and pulling roping dummy and it is a stout solid machine. Had a bayou growing up and they were great as well.

I have a 2005 Suzuki 400 eiger automatic with 4wd. Just needs carb cleaned. Have it posted for $1700. It’s at my lease near burkeville.

WORD! I’ve owned two Honda motorcycles , rice burners, in my life. A 650 then a CB900 with dual range tranny. Both were beast!

I had a '95 Honda fourtrax 250 2wd that I used for a few years to take care of a 700 acre company lease. Pulled a trailer with it loaded with corn or gear. I worked that thing hard. And just couldn't kill it. Sold it after the company gave up the lease. I bought another 2000 Honda 500 Fourman on here from Mary's son. Steering column was broken. I ordered and installed a new one. It ran great till I sold it to someone in Oklahoma. I've since bought another from on here, another Honda 500 Foreman, for hunting when I can use it. And pulling my boat in and out of the back yard the rest of the time. They are much quieter than others, and hard to kill.
