    Cheap chainsaw chains.

What are the drawbacks to buying super cheap chainsaw chains?
I use my chainsaws a lot. Sucks when I hit rock etc with a new chain. If I was in a softer environment I'd go with a really good chain but there's no way to avoid hitting rock and sawing the baes of cedar (with rock and dirt in bark)

Was debating getting a few new $5 chains. Maybe sharpen just a couple times then toss and replace. This versus a $20+ chain I try to sharpen 15-30 times.
I was surprised how many cheaper chains are on Amazon and Temu now.

Are the other chains made here in America?
How many chainsaw chain accidents are there from people using cheap chains?

I usually use County Line chains from Tractor supply. Just assumed those were made in China.

If they are $5, it wouldn’t cost much to try them.

We use the cheap chains a lot.
Mostly clearing small mesquite or cutting oak firewood.
                      stihl saws. No issues yet.

I think 12k is sprocket speed - it takes several revolutions of the sprocket to make the chain go around once.

I bought one of these sharpeners a few years ago, along with 5 spare good quality chains. When I'm down to a good chain on the saw and one good spare, I'll sharpen the dull ones. Best $30 minus the 20% coupon I've spent on tools in a while. I mounted it on a 2x4 and I put it in my vice. 10 minutes and I am done. This also affords me an opportunity to inspect the chain for any potential co-pay opportunities.

You couldn't pay me to run a $5 chain
