    Any HOGS out there?

I am thinking about joining the marines to try to qualify for the HOGS (Hunters of Gunmen). But don't know what to expect or what to do to get ready.
    Thanks, Sam
P.S. Thank you to all who have served our country!

Very coveted school slot/MOS. I never could get one (coming from the Reserve side, unit allocations). Have you talked to a recruiter about it?

Not yet, I know I am shooting high but I am also considering the seals or the rangers. From talking to friends who have done special forces I know that if you score high enough on your entrance exam then you will get a chance to go to HOG boot camp.

At least in the Marine Corps, there is no such thing as a Sniper boot camp. Everyone goes through the same bootcamp whether you're a cook/aircraft mechanic/grunt. I'm pretty sure to get to the scout/sniper divisional school they require at least one tour with a line company and the INDOC isn't a cake walk as well. Now, I did hear that recently that there was a way (don't know the particulars) that when you signed your contract, you got a shot at a Recon INDOC right after SOI. Maybe some others on the board can chime in on that one.

Not sure if it's still an option, but check into the 18 x-ray program (Army). Direct route to Special Forces- if you can make it. That's the route my son took. Many, many along the way don't make it. It also guarantees quick promotion, since you can't be on a team unless you're E-6. He made E-7 in under 7 years.

One of the first things his team Sgt did was send him to Ranger school. Triple tabs look good on the uniform.
