    Anyone use Cricket cell service?

Some friends switched from AT&T to Cricket and reduced their cell bill to about 1/4 of what it was. We are considering doing the same, but wonder about being able to use Onx and other hunting apps with Cricket. Does anyone here have any experience that can tell me about the good and bad of this carrier?

I've been with Cricket for almost 7 years now. Cricket is owned by AT&T. And uses AT&T towers. If you can get a AT&T signal, then you can use Cricket.

What Texas Grown said above. We have had it for 5 years with zero issues. My sons and I use On X on it just fine.

I have had it now for about 4 years with 3 phones for 118 a month. No issues so far.

Same as the others have said - I have had it for 4 years & have not had any issues. My work phone is ATT & there is not any difference between my personal phone & my work phone.

According to Cricket’s website, ATT has priority over Cricket even though they use the same towers. IF there is net congestion, ATT takes priority and Cricket may be throttled.

If a person doesn’t watch movies or other high bandwidth endeavors on their cellular plan, it is likely that a Cricket user might never know the difference (that’s an opinion from a tech site).

Cricket claims their video streaming is limited to 2.0 Mbps or SD quality.

I am thinking that if a person’s cell plan isn’t their primary internet (like it is for me) and if they stream movies it is on home wifi, Cricket is almost surely a good option.

Been with Cricket for 8 years. No issues other than the crapy AT&T cell service in rural areas. I put a cell booster on my house because of the AT&T service, or lack thereof, and now mine in my house is excellent. Went from nearly $200 with Verizon to $106 with cricket.

Thank you all for the info. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear!

Same for me. The customer service is not top notch but I rarely have to talk to a human.

So you get the same customer service as AT&T too.

Tagged. My wife wants us to switch but I'm hesitant. I hotspot from time to time for work and we also hotspot at the deer lease so that our kid can watch some cartoons in the morning. My main hang up is that I need it to be reliable, my work is 24/7 365 and I need to be contacted when necessary. If it picks up and functions just as well as AT&T I may need to look into it more.

Not 100% true. I have cricket and have been in places where my friends on AT&T have service and I don't. Specifically remember a weekend in Broken Bow with absolute 0 service and my friends phones were working.

That is kind of what I was talking about that I read on their own website. ATT gets priority and Cricket throttles their signal for streaming.

For most people it almost never becomes an issue. For others or at certain times……

Cricket used to not work at all at any time in a part of OK including the Broken Bow area but lately it's changed and I haven't had a problem at all anymore
