Hog and deer hunt for my kids

I haven’t had a try lease in several years. I have 2 sons that have hunted but never really loved it. They both want to go hunting. Looking for a place to shoot some hogs and maybe some management wt. anyone have budget friendly suggestions?

You may look into the Texas Youth Hunting Program. They have some great hunting opportunities. The draw odds are pretty good for youth on the Texas Public draw hunts also, but the deadline to enter this year has past.

No clue what part of the state you are located in…but you could peruse the tpwd draw hunt catalog and find some youth hunts in the youth categories that haven’t been held yet. check the booklet to see if each spot lists whether they offer standby positions and then call the area.
most of the youth hunts are weekends, but some are during school Xmas break. If one place says they are drawing a few standby cards, you aren’t out any money besides gas to get there.
most of the youth hunts are high opportunity hunts, or judging by the ones I’ve been on.

Great program. There’s a hog hunt I know in February. Be sure when you apply, put down that they are first time to apply. My son has been drawn once

What age are the boys?

I have a 16 year old and a 25 year old. Not really young kids.

16 year old can still apply to TYHP. He will get priority as he is a first time hunter (with them). Go ahead and apply, you will like it
