    Vietnam MIA remains identified

This is going to be long, sorry

One of my best childhood friends married a Marine (Craig) while at A&M in the 90”s. Craig retired as a Major after 20 years. They moved to Cat Spring after getting out of the Corps. Craig and I became friends when he’s son joined the 4-H rifle team, and our friendship has grown to probably best friend statues in the last few years. 2 years ago Craig and I were driving to a match and he told me that his father had a twin brother who was listed as MIA in Vietnam. Uncle Ronnie was a navigator in a Marine Corps A-6 Intruder. That grabbed my attention because I was an airframes mechanic on A-6’s while I was in the Corps. He soon told me that Ronnies plane had gone done Dec 27, 1972. Wow! I joined the Marine Corps on Dec 27, 16 years later! So right or wrong I felt I had a connection to Uncle Ronnie.

This morning I get a text from Craig. “I have some exciting news, call when you can!” My first thought was his son’s rifle shooting or something to do with reloading, because that’s generally our conversations. I quickly called. Not going to lie, my eyes leaked as he told me that his cousin (Ronnie’s daughter) had driven to Craig’s dad’s house yesterday to tell him that that had gotten confirmation through bone dna that Ronnies remains had been found! I can only imagine the relief after 51 years!

Wow! That's great news for his family. It's a shame it took this long to find one of our fallen heroes. I pray his family finds some peace knowing he is finally coming home.

Did my year over there and don’t have any acquaintances that are/were MIA. Not all came back alive, but all returned to their families. I can’t imagine what families and friends of our MIAs go through over and over.

God’s blessings on them, and peace and grace.

Man if a story like this doesn't make you appreciate the sacrifices that so many have made for us then I do not think anything will. Thank you so much for your service and sacrifice Ronnie and rest in peace! I hope this brings comfort for his family and I appreciate their sacrifice as well.
