‘Pig proof’, or ‘pig resistant’?
So, Sunday morning four small pigs came to my feeder. I looked around wondering where mom and dad were, but none showed up. I took aim at one of them and let my arrow fly.
It looked like a Tarantino movie with blood flying, and the four pigs started scattering. Then I noticed one running off to my left with my arrow sticking out of its shoulder/neck area. I couldn’t believe my shot would have been that much off and would have gotten so little penetration. Well, then I see this other dude doing the Curly shuffle with blood coming out all over. He then hops up and from 15 yards away makes a beeline for my blind and runs full speed directly into it! He rammed into it right in front of where I was sitting.
Then he hobbled back to where he came from and expired. The dude that exited stage left had apparently been the recipient of the pass through arrow and the bastage stole my arrow – he left too little blood to track and I couldn’t find him after sweeping the area for 30 minutes.
Whether the blind would hold up to the 150# dude I shot earlier this season, or the 212# boar last year, I haven’t tested yet. But, a 40 pounder didn’t budge the blind and I don’t have it anchored at all – just sitting on the ground.
