Sliding miter saw: Dewalt or Rigid

I have used dewalt, makita and metabu but not the sliding models. I have not used the rigid. Makita might be a bit nicer but all three worked great. The biggest thing for me is your setup for cutting. If you are working remote I feel your miter saw stand is more important than which saw you choose.

I have the DeWalt double bevel slider. Its on a kobalt wheeled stand and running what I assume is the factory blade since I bought it out of the classifieds. Its a great saw and worth retail. I'll also say the laser cutting guide seemed like a gimmick but its pretty cool
I can only compare it to a delta I used which isnt even on the same planet

But like mentioned before, get a good stand. I have a junk ryobi stand. The support arms won’t hold up, always sliding down.

Ive had my DeWalt DB slider for over 3 years now. it is stout, heavy and plenty of power. Very pleased with it. If i had to be really knit picky, I would say almost too much torque. It will buck in your hand when you hit to switch. (like I said that is pretty dang picky to "find something to complain about" )

Diablo blades are the best in my opinion when I lived in Oak Point I had Diablo blades on my dual bevel sliding miter saw, my table saw, and my circular saws all of which got used weekly making flags. They last the longest out of all the blades I have tried. I ran the kobalt miter on a kobalt wheeled stand. I loved the set up and never had an issue. The laser guide is just that, a guide not pin point accuracy.
I will say whichever brand you go with, make sure it's squared before you use it. There are videos online how to do that if you don't know how.Last edited by BlessedVeteran0305; 12-04-2023, 10:24 PM.

I build custom cabinets for a living . Dewalt makes a great saw I have been through 2 of the 12” sliding miter saws in the last 15 or so years . Look into the Bosch sliding miter saw the 10” has a longer stroke than the 12” dewalt .It doesn’t take up near the counter space of the Dewalt and the articulating arm is super smooth I won’t go back to the Dewalt.
