I am looking for a place to go hog hunting for a week in February. It will be just me and my son and we will be coming from Wisconsin. I will need a place to stay and prefer a shelter of some kind but we do have a tent and would be willing to camp. This could be a yearly event as we have been doing hog hunts one to two weeks a year for quite a few years. We like to hunt on our own and are very self-sufficient. We won't need a guide or help cleaning hogs. Just need the land boundaries and a meeting to discuss the particulars on a property. I am a LEO so a straight up guy. I am sure I can get you in touch with references from places I have gone assuring you I treat land as my own and have never had an issue with a landowner. Let me know if you have a property or any suggestions.

Not sure I can help but I'll check. A few questions:- How old is your son?
- Are you wanting bow or rifle? Night or day?
- Are you willing to pay or are you looking for free?
- How will you get there? Do you need transportation or are you driving down?
- If I am able to work it out, you would have a room with 2 bunkbeads and 1 and a half baths so no need to camp.
- What will you do for food? Will you need to use kitchen, grill, etc that are there?
- Do you mind if others are there at the same time?
- When you say a week are you talking about a Sat-Fri? If I could work something out I'm thinking show up Fri or Sat and we would be there thru Sun to show you around, etc and then leave you on your own.

Swamper hunted my place a couple years ago. I wish I could help him out again, but due to the group that came out right before him broke some major rules and caused a big stink. So we decided to discontinue all of our hog hunts which sucks because we are loaded with hogs this year. If you don’t find a place in a week or so, I’ll look at my schedule and see if I can work something out. I work 7 on and 7 off so I might could take the 2 of y’all out on my 7 days off. As long as I can be out there, my brother doesn’t mind.

If you want to try dog hunting we will be hitting White Oak WWA in February. It is 25,000+ acres or east Texas bottom land. We do not carry firearms. It is a blast. My brother-in-law does not live that far away and we normally stay there as he hunts with us as well. I am sure he would make you a good deal to stay there and you could hunt with us for free. If interested just let me know.

I am not super techy so I hope I am replying in a way you will get the message.
My son is 21 years old. We have hunted very different ranches. Some were bow only and some were a mix of rifle and bow. My son really likes bow and he will want to hunt some bow for sure. We do have cheap or cheapish night vision as they are all kind of expensive that we can put on crossbows and or rifles. Our experience on night hunting is it depends on the place. One place we went several years we never saw a hog in daylight so we had to hunt at night. Another hogs moved during the day and the landowner didn't seem to like night hunting so we only hunted during the daylight.
As far as transportation we would come in a pickup so we have room to bring back any meat we get. Also my wife will make us bring an extra cooler to fill with Blue Bell Ice Cream. We have a system of getting a cooler home without thawing the ice cream.
As far as food. We have camped and used a grill and we have had camp houses with a stove so we cook when possible. We could eat sandwiches for a week and we would be happy though. I would be very happy to have others there. In the past we have brought lots of goodies from Wisconsin for friends in Texas to share. Things like Cheese, hot sticks, maple syrup, home made wine, side pork.
As far as days. We take a week off of work. If possible we would leave Friday after work and arrive Saturday night or Sunday depending on where it is in Texas. Then we would like to hunt until Friday and leave for home as early as we can pack on Saturday. That would be the best scenario but we are very open to changing it somewhat.
We absolutely are willing to pay. Our backup plan is Brushy Hill which is a day hunt operation so they are $80.00 a day per person I believe. My son and I just love the different type of hunt that hog hunting is and its a great bonding time for us to spend a week together. Also other years my wife has come. She likes hunting also but she said she needs a year break.
Hopefully I answered all of your questions. Let me know of more come up.

Lincoln Ranch.com, not a bad place. Just down the rock road from the Callaghan Ranch.
South Texas bowhunting on Lincoln Ranch, located near Laredo, Texas offers quality whitetail deer and native game hunting.

Never seen a rule like this but I bet it helps with having enough hogs to hunt
"No obvious pregnant hogs or ones with babies are to be shot"
