Geriatric old Axis Buck

This old man hangs around and is the oldest Axis I’ve ever seen! Still a pretty good set of antlers in growth.

I feel sorry for him, he has a buddy that’s probably the same age and even the WT push them both around . They have plenty to eat and water very close by so I think they are settled in.

I love hunting old deer. One of the ranches I guided for had this ancient axis. I begged them to let me hunt him. I think he just died of old age.

We used to have one that would have to walk up and start to jump and then back off from the feed pen several times before it was finally comfortable to try and jump in! Was comical to watch him. He probably died back in the freeze.

I get it! This just would not be any where near fair even with a bow at 60 yds . I’ve been within 10 yds of him sooo many times. I just look at him with admiration, and tell him I’m right behind you old man
