Hunted very hard and passed on some average bucks this season. Went back and hunted Saturday - Tuesday, 11-22. Probably 50 hours total same stand, I was seeing good deer movement and some rut activity so I stayed with it, knowing I had plenty of does for bait. Tuesday morning, 0830, after having a very active morning this big boy appeared about 30 seconds behind a lone doe. He was on a fast walk, head out, mouth open really taking in all the scent he could. He never stopped and he got really quick as I shot him going away at 145 yards. Never seen live or on camera by anyone for about 50 sq miles. That’s how they get big. This story is almost identical to the one I shot two years ago, same genetic characteristics. Also, exactly 364 days from the chasing buck I killed last year.
