It looks like a pot of tomato soup and a burger.

Any more details or do we have to see if anyone survived the experiment?

Found the recipe on big green egg FB group. Basically smoked seasoned meatball. Then crumble the meat into the pot. No juices lost.

          Yes there are beans!

More details to follow after taste test.

Don’t listen to all the nay-sayers on here with all their puffed up attitudes, bold bravado, and…and…nay-saying. If you and your family like it, that’s all that matters.

(I might suggest that you not serve it to company, though!)

Any "company" that thinks there are no beans in chili need to leave anyway.

An easy workaround for folks who prefer the flavor profile beans put into chili without the ridicule….use refried beans and you get the best of both worlds.

How is it over the top if you haven’t tried it yet?

Because he smoked the meatloaf over the pot of tomato soup before dropping it in the pot and called it chili

Well the chili was a hit! I enjoyed the smokey flavor. Family enjoyed it as well even the kids since I didn't make it too spicy. Total cook time of about 3 hours and let it set up for another 45 minutes covered with no heat. I used lump charcoal but may add some hickory or mesquite next time. I love smokey but I know some people don't like too much smoke flavor (I am rarely in that crowd).

I won't even debate chili ingredients with this crowd but the beauty of this method is you can use whatever you want! I used about half of the seasonings and onion/garlic in the meat ball and the other half in the pot.

Here is a link to the method and a recipe if you want more details. Thank God for chili season and am alreadylooking forward to leftovers!
                              And some pics.
