Thanks Michael! It was a wild roller coaster for sure. I am extremely grateful it has come to a positive end.

Adding the weight to the arrow was the ticket. Our deer are much larger in body size on our new place and I moved to a 12.0 GPI with 65 grain insert for the additional KE and it has performed flawlessly so far. Kudos to you for staying at it and not letting it shake your confidence too bad. Most folks would've gave up on the bow and grabbed a boom stick.
Thanks! My arrows are up to 475 grains now so I think I'm in much better shape. Several close friends encouraged me to pick up the rifle and I definitely thought about it but I'm glad I didn't and was able to get that arrow in him. It would have messed with my head for a long time if I didn't get a chance to close that chapter with my bow.

            Great write-up!

I had this exact thing happen to me down in South tx about 15 years ago. I was shooting a 400gn arrow with a 3 blade Rage not long after they came out, pulling like 64lb. After that happened, I turned the limb bolts to 70, total arrow weight is about 550, and went to Slick Tricks. I've passed through every single animal since then. I'm probably going to start using a 2 blade expandable since I know the power for it is there.

Again, great story and congrats on an awesome buck and a lesson learned!

Giant deer! I know all about shooting one high!
Unfortunately my story didn’t turn out like yours. Congrats

                              1) This story is CRAZY! 2) The hunting gods gave you a blessing here with THREE shots. Holy cow! 3)What did you find when you gutted him? Did those arrows enter the chest cavity?

                              4) CONGRATS!!!

Thanks! It was absolutely crazy. I don't want to do it again LOL. First arrow with SEVR had decent but high placement but did not enter the chest cavity... Second shot with killzone went above the lungs and he was full of fluid and infection when I finally killed him. Green stuff was coming out of that wound. Third shot buried to the offside shoulder and he made it 40 yards.
