Bergara Ridge Rifle Accuracy?

Anybody have one of these and can comment on their accuracy? I’m thinking of buying one in a 7mm-08 and cutting the barrel to about 16” and shoot it suppressed. I’ve heard a few good things but want your opinion.

Buddy has one in 6.5 PRC and it shoots great.
1/2”- 3/4”.

I have one in .308 and shoot suppressed. Mine is the Ridge SP (short barrel, pre-threaded). It is easily a sub MOA rifle. I absolutely love it.

All the Bergara’s we have shoot extremely well. I have a 22-250 HMR, my brother and buddy both have a 6.5 Creedmore HMR and all shoot great.

I’ve got a Ridge in 300wm and wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. Now, might be my rifle. Might be the fact it’s a 300wm. Who knows. But what I can tell you is I’ve shot 7 or 8 different factory offerings(5 of them being a “Premium” load), and I’m now starting to test handloads trying to find something it will shoot under 1” at 100yds. It is EXTREMELY picky. So far one has shot under 1moa(5shots in 3/4”) and it’s the Sig 190gr Match ammo that Bergara uses to test their MOA guarantee. Figured I better shoot it before sending the rifle in for them to check out…. Well it does shoot it but a match bullet doesn’t work very well for Elk hunting. Groups range from Remington Corelokt 180gr(was shooting it mainly just to get rounds down the barrel during break in) in a 3.5” group. To Berger 185 Classic Hunters in 1.75” and all in between.

Reached out to Bergara trying to find some suggestions. Customer service said “We don’t guarantee it to shoot sub MOA with hunting ammunition”. A hunting rifle… but only guaranteed to shoot what is basically the standard expected accuracy now days with Match ammo.

For comparison, guy I follow on YouTube that tests A LOT of rifles, took a Howa to the range and the first shots out of the rifle with Remington corelokt tipped was sub MOA.

Long winded, but based off my current experience I can’t suggest anyone get a Bergara. Not when you can go buy a Tikka, Howa, Savage, Weatherby and more for the same price and they actually shoot well. My $400 Ruger American Predator in 308 will shoot circles around this Bergara. Heck, if I could go back in time Id probably just get a Ruger American go wild in 300wm.

Do a google search for “Bergara Accuracy problems”. I’m not alone with the issue. Just wish I would have done that type of research before buying it. Hoping I can find work up some handloads it likes and all will be good in the world.

I purchased my ridge as soon as they came available, it’s a .300 wm and it’s lights out. That being said , it has Never had a factory rd through it.

I have a Bergara b14 ridge in 7mm-08. It's a great shooter with factory ammo. Started with Hornady superformance in 139 gr. Kills pigs dead. Hoping to kill pigs in the morning with it using Remington core-lokt in 140 gr. Both loads patterned well for me.

I have the wilderness ridge 6.5 prc and love it. 3 kills so far this season. Hog and coyote side by side at 335 and my buck under 100. I like a heavier barrel profile for my stand rifle. I also bought this to be my primary suppressed gun too. I never tried factory in it as I bought 100 rounds from custom reloads of Dallas. Everything touches. Changed out the trigger to a trigger tech.

Rifle barrels and their preferred loads are just like us guys when it comes to bow brand, broadhead, beer, or trucks. Each has its own preference. I was in the commercial hand loading/accuracy work up business several years ago and I found that the one thing that had the greatest effect on accuracy was bullet jump. That is the distance a bullet travels from the case mouth until it engages the rifling. Once I found that sweet spot, didn’t much matter nearly so much with propellant charge or bullet.

Neighbor has one in 308 and it'll do less than 1 MOA all day with Federal blue box 150s. I'd buy with confidence. Or get a Tikka CTR for a tiny bit more confidence.

you do realize that a handload worked up in another rifle won't necessarily shoot well in your rifle right?
