Reviews for F250 7.3 gasser everyday driver mileage with 3.73 or 4:10 gears

Against everything I have inside if me in the FORD Diesel vs Gasser deal I am actually leaning toward the gasser! My reasons being are 1)- pricing and 2)- diesels of every make are just not dependable as they were pe- Covid , 3)- if an issue occurs with the diesels there is more down time waiting for parts ! It will be an every day driver for me so yes, mileage does matter . The 4:30 gearing just won’t work for me because in best case scenario 12.8 mpg empty just isn't going to cut the mustard . I’m not the person that can afford an additional 1/2 ton when the super duty isn’t needed!

this isn’t a discussion about the diesel, only the 7.3!
Nor is this a discussion about any other Manufacturer's!

    TIA

I'm no help about the 7.3, but from someone who daily drove a TRX getting 11 for about a year, hear me out. If you need the super duty for hauling purposes, get the one with the 4.10s if you are going to be pushing the tow rating envelope. 3.73s if you are only towing medium. and use the money you saved from not buying diesels to get a $7500 POS asian car to daily drive and let the pickup sit in the driveway until you need it.

I get nauseated in those little tin cans, they are dangerous and sit way too close to the ground !

LOL, what can possibly be dangerous in a small car in Halletsville?!

What are you looking for? You didn't ask a question, just made a series of statements. If you want to do it, do it. If you don't want to do it, then don't.

I personally would be looking for a well maintained 5-10 yo diesel and a small car. It will be way cheaper all the way around.

4:30 rear end with 285/75/18 all terrain . Going 65 to 70 get 13- 14 mph on hwy

I can tell you this. I have the 3.55 and wish I had gone 4:10. Thought it was gonna make a little difference in gas mileage and didn’t. Still get 13-14. Not real worried about it as far as mileage goes, but pulling my travel trailer with the 10 speed I feel the tranny wouldn’t have to shift as much or would not have to downshift on the highway going up a slight incline or overpass with the 4:10.

-I’m pretty sure my question is straight forward and tried to Weed out all of the unnecessary BS but going by your post I am certain that I failed!

I've got the 7.3 w/410 Tremor package. My average gas mileage is 12.5 with a mix of around town and FM roads (65-70 mph). I think I'm right around 32K miles.

I'm seeing similar. I don't have the tremor package. Not a fan of the 10 speed for everyday driving. Shifts weird from time to time. Looking for a gear a lot of time going down hill. Towing its awesome.

Have seen 18 on eco mode and 70mph highway. But I suck at going 70. Usually same mileage as posted. 12 pulling my boat and just under that pulling travel trailer. Power for days. 57k and is my wife's daily. 4.30s

I bought new a 2020 F350 LB 4x4 C/C STX with the 7.3 gas and 3.73 gears w/10 speed tranny. Averaged about 14 all around driving, hauling was less, down to 10. I normally drive 75+ on the highway. Only problem with this truck was an internal part on the new 10 speed tranny went out just shy of 60,000 miles. Tranny had to be rebuilt but under warranty. this truck would haul but anythime you need too and would pull anything with ease. Oil changes at Quicklane were around $65.

Weird thing is, I paid $47,000 new out the door an just traded the truck for a 2023 F150 and got $40,000 trade in value. It is listed for $49,800 used at the dealer!

The reason I traded was it was our only vehicle and the wife could drive it, but had to park in Tin Buck Too anywhere she went. It was a beast, rode decent for a heavy sprung, tow springs on it and for what it was, I thought decent mileage. Hard to park in tight spots or driving around on tight curves.

I bought it to get us moved from Lubbock to Rogers and my stuff from my deer lease between Jayton and Rotan. Now that we are moved, I no longer need anything to haul anything heavy so that is the reason we went smaller with an F150.

                      Hope this helps.
