We are looking at buying a dirt bike for Christmas, and I have read Louisiana and Oklahome dont charge a sales tax on these. Is that still the case? I searched and dont see a definitive answer, so any help is appreciated. I didnt really want to call a dealer and them have my phone number yet

I purchased several atv's from Lake Hill Motors in MS several years ago without paying sales tax. I think the sales tax is paid when titled, and since not titling in the state where purchased, they can't collect sales tax. Paying cash, you will get a certificate of origin/bill of sale, and its your responsibility (or not) to title and register in TX. Go ahead and give them a call, check pricing and ask about it. -
The way I understand it, even if they do tax in another state, if you buy it there you don’t pay the tax til you apply for a title here.
