    klein meat pflugerville tx

Just texted klein meat processing to see if they are open today. Got text back they are closed this year.

Anyone in the area know why?

And with that, looking for processor to get some itlian sausage and andouille sausage made in Austin metro.

Anyone know why Kleins Meat Market (the old Farmers) in Boerne is closed until further notice? There is a notice on their website. That definitely affects my plans for hunting deer.

I believe the one in Boerne is actually open and it’s the one in Pflugerville that’s closed, which seems to agree with what you found through the text coms.

I read through the thread a while back and want to say it has something to do with renovation or remodeling but I can’t swear to that.

I tried Klein's several years ago and really liked them. The next year i tried to take a deer to them and they weren't taking any new customers. I ended up going to Republic Butcher Co in Round Rock and they did a pretty decent job. Just moved to Hutto and have heard good things about Westphalia. I usually process all of my deer but if i get in a time crunch i might check Westphalia out.

Thanks for posting. Was planning on giving Republic Butcher a try.

We just got 3 back from Westphalia. Packaged the backstrap and tenders and the rest is burger. We haven't tried it yet but the price, turnaround time, etc were all great. Typically we use Taylor Meat but their freezer was broken. If it is fixed when I have another deer we will go back to them but so far we are happy w/ Westphalia.

It doesn't get much better than Republic Butcher.

Mr. Curtis Klein’s nephew bought him out I think three maybe four years ago. He continued operating out of the shop next to Mr. Klein’s house. Let’s just say the nephew had a change in plans and let the business go and sold off all the equipment.

If this is true, it’s sad!!!!! Kleins was the best deer processor in the whole Austin metro area for long, long time.

I remember taking some meat to Curtis to make into sausage back in the late 70's and it was really good stuff. I believe he was just starting out. I believe he started this as a side job back then.

Brought my meat to Republic Butcher yesterday and the subject of Klien's came up. What I was told is the old man has moved into a retirement home, and the house is now up for sale. And the text I got back was we're just not open this year, which to me implied he would be set up some where else later. But maybe things changed and he just sold everything. It was nice having a processor around the corner.

Yes sir, the nephew has sold off everything and has moved on to other endeavors. I worked for Mr. Klein 28 years ago and they are a very remarkable family. They took me in as a young man as part of their family, and we extremely close ever since.

So sad. I would take a deer there every year just for Hard salami. Grew up in the Ville, so have taken prob over 100 deer there.

I’ve used him since 1984, up until a few years ago. The product was always outstanding.

A lot of places claim to individually grind each deer so that you get only your product. I can with 100% certainty tell you we cut up, ground and processed every deer separately. Mr. Klein was very particular on how customers meat was treated. I always respected the honor and goodness Mr. Klein treated people and their property with.
