Got my oldest on an axis buck, unfortunately no recovery. He shot him and dropped him, got up and ran. Had
a call to ole Roy Hindes and after talking to him, we decided it was not a lethal shot. Roy said I would be waisting time looking for him. I’ve guided a lot of deer and after watching this shot, I think my son shot him in the hind quarter. No sign of blood anywhere. We will be back out in the morning to try for another and look again. Thanks for following along, stressful evening after a great afternoon. Hunting is always about highs and lows, hopefully everyone else experiences the highs. Happy hunting everyone, hope most of y’all are successful on opening weekend.

Kinda late on this, lol. Well we looked Saturday morning, not a sign of blood, hair or meat. We ended up seeing him Saturday evening. From what I can tell it was a high hit. He looked fine, actually good enough we took another shot, unfortunetly he missed. He missed a javelina right before that as well, high. My son has killed over 30 animals without a miss, I guess it’s time for him to come to real life. And no the gun is still on, for some reason he is shooting high at animals. What a great weekend though. Thanks for following. Might update this thread once we get back out there to do it again.
