It took a mature kid to play for him but if you wanted to learn the game of basketball he was great. As a person not so much.

One of the best press conferences bobby ever did was after a loss and he addressed the issue of not having a “game face” classic Bobby knight.

Not a fan. I use to coach and worked once for a coach who berated, embarassed, and cussed young players in front of the other players which is what Knight did. If that is what you have to do to win then no thank you. I am sorry he passed but does not change how he treated people.

Sounds like the coaches when I played Pop Warner football in the 60's.

I could never decide if I liked coach Knight or not. When he was at Tech he did a weekly show on the radio here in Ft Worth, and while I enjoyed a lot of it, he seemed incapable of dealing with the slightest criticism, IMO if you're gonna coach like he did, you need to grow a little bark on ya....asking players to put up with his style, and refusing to be accountable yourself, is a bad look. At the end of the day, he probably just came around 20 years too late, and couldn't/wouldn't adjust.

I for one liked him. Old school philosophy, how I was raised. More kids these days need that rather than being coddled
