    Shipping a large item?

My husband sold his exhaust system and needs to ship it. It weighs about 45-50#, and we don't have a box for it. It is approximately 80"x24"x6"tall. How does a person ship an item this large? Which company should we try? And how do we box it?

You can buy boxes on Amazon and fedex it, or you can take it to a UPS store and they will wrap, box it and ship it for you. More costly that way, but it may be worth it.

Put it in an 81”x25”x7” tall box and take it to UPS.

Ya make one out of several other smaller boxes cobbled together with miles of duct tape to hold it all in place. Redneck engineering.

            What comes to my mind.

I bought a gun off of here years ago from a deputy and it showed up in an evidence box. I still laugh when thinking about it. Get creative!

Go to Home Depot/Lowe’s buy one of the large or exlarge boxes and cut it open to make your own box

I think this is the only way. I’ve made boxes before like this, box cutter and strong tape.

We ship large metal item's all the time without a box, stick a label on it and let it go.

UPS, FedEx and several Motor Freight companies.

I have been using a website called pirateship to ship packages. It has saved me a ton of money over UPS counter rates. You do not need an account to check rates. Cut some boxes up and use some packing tape.

Thanks thegrouse - that is information I was looking for. We checked - the package is 84x28x16" and to ship it via Fed Ex Freight is $400-600

You can also look at DHS. Most shippers will have boxes in stock, but I agree with most - tape together multiple boxes. Save some money there.
