What kind of bees are these?

I have a large colony of bees that are nesting in the ground on my place. Anyone know what type they are? The one shown is covered in what I believe is sunflower pollen. There’s a large field of sunflowers nearby, and most all the bees are covered in yellow pollen.

Thanks Shane, you may be exactly right. I also looked up digger bees, but the burrow seems to be more like the miner bee you mentioned. All I know is there’s a BUNCH of them in about a 40 yard length area. Just never saw this before.
