Get to cross this off my bucket list!

As part of an advanced SWAT school we got to train out of one of the last three remaining active duty Huey helos today. I have always wanted to take a ride in a helicopter before and today I got my chance.

The flight was great and much smoother than I had anticipated. I was in one of two seats in the back that face out the doors (the doors were open). As we were making a circle the pilot rolled the bird all the way onto it's side. While on it's side I was facing straight down and it was a long ways down!! What a blast though!

Nice, but is that one of the only "old school" hueys still active duty? The AF has a bunch of brand new ones down in Del Rio.

Rode the door on some of them in the past. Can still hear the rotors.

TTPOA school? Went through advanced in Dallas few months back, no helicopter platform in that one.

I have rode in Several old hueys at Ft. Polk, it was a blast. I never remember them being smooth, most of the ones I rode in vibrated you to death unless they were full out straight and level.

And, loud, when the doors are open.
