ID:	26604044 I know there’s somebody but n TBH who will know how to calculate this.

This past week I attended my 50th high school reunion. Most of the class was born in 1955. 140 people attended.

I’m trying to calculate how many will (statically speaking) will be alive in 5 years. Assuming 1/2 men and 1/2 woman. I just can’t find the formula or table searching on Google.

Without a picture on TBH it didn’t happen- I’m with high school best friend’s girlfriend 50 years later!

You are looking for the bell curve associated with the year you were born. You will have two one for males and another for females.
    Here is an example:

Life expectancy is a statistical calculation which estimates the average number of years individuals in a certain group will live. However, people seem to interpret it as an expert opinion that tells them exactly how long they can expect to live. This interpretation is dangerous and belies the wide range of lifespans for individuals within any group in practice.

Your life expectancy values depend on your standard of living, race and other factors. Pick a number from this table:

then you need to find the standard deviation. With those you can generate a bell curve.

my guess....most all of them will still be alive.

you're going to lose about 2% per year for the next five years.

Slightly more men will kick the bucket, and slightly less women.

As you approach the next five year reunion, the percentage will increase to about 3% per year.

Your life expectancy is about 15 years right now, so you might make three more of these events.

Your friend's girlfriend might make four more of them.

Take out heart disease and you are looking at a practically full venue.

Do you people actually go out of your way to be depressing? I have no desire to think about about when I am likely to die, much less deliberate on it!

Did you just "you people" us?

In my line of work, I have other people hoping for my premature demise, so I have to remind them that I'm not only here for a good time, but also for a long time!

This is a very deep topic!
I am sure this life expectancy topic enters into most peoples thought process on occasion. You know it doesn’t actually become reality until you are faced with real life issues that you know you aren’t going to live a full normal life expectancy.
A very wise man gave me some very simple but sound advice not to long ago that I am going to strive to live by

“Life is good if we make it so……so we should enjoy it until we can’t”

                It's not depressing- it's reality.

I found out after the reunion one woman who registered was not there because she had a fall a couple days before, hit her head and had a brain bleed. Unfortunately, it happens.

It's amazing what cosmetic surgery, botox and not having any children can do for a 68 year old woman.

Ain't you got animals to hunt up there in them mountains? I don't have time to think about death, I'm trying to keep up with 5 grandkid's that are very athletic and love to hunt on top of that. Add to that I'm still working 2 days a week(going to 1 day a week next year).

I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be alive until I ain’t, other than that I don’t think about it much. I’ve already defied statistics, I have my affairs in order, and I’m gonna carry on like I’m gonna live forever.

Dying is the leading cause of death.
