Good read. I'm in the same boat...I've never tagged a deer I've shot on the ranch right away. I've always had it gutted and hanging before I ever got my tag out. I also don't keep my hunting license on my person when I'm hunting the ranch. I keep it in the ranch house. It's not right as per the letter of the law, but I don't see it as a big deal. I've never not tagged a deer.

I agree it doesn't seem like a big deal, but those are some big ticket violations...

              That's a lot of bucks.

You will get a ticket if you are checked and the deer isn't tagged....the Game Wardens see no humor in untagged deer.....and that includes the register on your license...

Yep a pen, a zip tie, maybe a kinife, and a tag. What it takes 5 minutes to save you from getting in trouble.

I got a warning for the log not being filled out on a doe Bloody hands skinning, my wallet was in the truck and the deer was tagged. I was 20 so he was a jerk.

I know the law but I never tag mine until after it is back and gutted.....
